Wax Paper Icing Bags

You'll need a square sized sheet of wax paper for each color.

Fold it in half to look like a triangle then roll it into a cone shape.

Cut across the top to make an even line, then again about an inch down the outside seam.  Fold one side out, the other in.  Fill the cone with your icing.  Seal the bag by folding the top down to close it (about two folds), then cut the tip to make a small hole.  Voila!  You have yourself a homemade icing bag!

Parchment Paper

You know those moms who bake every now and then with their kids, especially on holidays and birthdays?  Mine isn't in that category.  Nope.  My mom was in the category of "hard working single parent" which led her to be somewhat of a creative cook in our family.  She didn't have time to bake, but when she could, she made the time to put together a good homecooked meal out of practicaly nothing. I learned a lot from her.  How to use Parchment Paper was not one of those things.  That's something I learned to do on my own in order to make my job at the sink easier. In addition to using it as a cookie sheet liner, here are some of the ways that I have used Parchment Paper....

Steam Fish, wrap herbed butter, press homemade corn tortillas, and making baking cups.

Sweet Banana Bread Mini Cupcakes
One day I was making mini cupcakes and ran out of the cups to pour my batter into. I improvised by cutting out a circle, put it on top of a shot glass, and pressed it down into the shot glass with another shot glass.  The same thing can be done with foil paper.
